2016 SERVPRO SCHOLARSHIP

2/1/2016 (Permalink)

SERVPRO® of Douglas County & S. Eugene/Florence through the generous contributions of local businesses, national and statewide business partners and community members has raised $11,000 for the SERVPRO® Scholarship Fund.

Hosting its 7th annual customer appreciation dinner and auction at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, the company will donate the entire proceeds to the scholarship fund.  Through a silent auction, 50/50 contests and raffle drawings, SERVPRO® guests made charitable purchases on a range of items from gift baskets to a package trip to Las Vegas.

For a private gathering, we are once again thrilled at the success of this year’s event,” said SERVPRO® Marketing Manager and Sutherlin Club Rotarian, Trever Kinney.  “Tim and Nikole Clark – SERVPRO® of Douglas County & S. Eugene/Florence owners – truly know how to treat their employees, as well as their business partners, and giving back to our community is their way of saying ‘thank you’.  This event has become a fun and entertaining evening, and to raise money for local education is a bonus.”

The Sutherlin-based company, which specializes in fire and water cleanup and restoration, started the SERVPRO® Scholarship Fund in 2014 to benefit students enrolled in the Fire Science Program at Umpqua Community College.  This year’s donation is expected to provide three, full-year tuition scholarships.

International Firefighters Day

5/11/2015 (Permalink)

“The role of a firefighter in today’s society – be it urban, rural, natural environment, volunteer, career, industrial, defense force, aviation, motor sport, or other is one of dedication, commitment and sacrifice – no matter what country we reside and work in. In the fire service we fight together against one common enemy – fire – no matter what country we come from, what uniform we wear or what language we speak.”
– Lt JJ Edmondson, 1999

International Firefighters Day is observed each year on May 4th. This day is not taken lightly here are SERVPRO.  Each year firefighters face times of tragedy and triumph, arguments and lessons, reflection and celebrations. Their role can often be long, dangerous, difficult and with little reward.

To recognize and honor those firefighters near us, we wanted to give back with what seems like a small thank you, in comparison to what they do for us. Baskets were filled with barbequing supplies and presented to our local Fire Departments.

Thank you for your daily service and risking your life to save ours.

Community CanDo! Food Drive Mike unloading cans of food at the CanDo! Food Drive

This week KVAL hosted it's 2015 CanDo! Food Drive. KVAL TV and local businesses teamed up to help the local food bank and put an end to hunger. For Lane County residents, one in three are eligible for emergency food assistance, and 53% of the children qualify for free/reduced school meals.

We were able to drop by and donate for the cause. Great job to all who were able to help! If you didn't make it, and would still like to help, you can head over to http://www.foodforlanecounty.org/en/ and donate. For every $1 donated, FFLC can access and distribute three meals.

On Friday, April 3, our community lost one of our members at just 24 years young. Joey Atterbury was headed east on Highway 34 shortly before 3 p.m. when his vehicle hit head-on with another vehicle. Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene. Caden, Atterbury’s 15-month-old son, was riding in the backseat of Atterbury’s car. Caden was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis.

This Friday, April 10, Dutch Bros. Sutherlin will be launching their "Water with a Purpose" campaign to support the Atterbury family in their time of need. All proceeds from the Dutch2O (bottled water) will be donated to help ease the burden of this tragedy. Dutch Bros. will also be accepting donations for those who would like to go above and beyond. Please spread the word, thank you for being such an awesome community!!
